July Balsam Bash

Thanks to all the volunteers who relinquished some of their Saturday morning to engage in battle with the dreaded and ubiquitous Himalayan Balsam. Two hours of quite satisfying uprooting and bashing left piles of discarded stems. The flowers look pretty but will explosively release about 500 seeds per plant if allowed to flourish. Another session hopefully in August but anyone passing a clump of Balsam is encourage to uproot it to curb the spread.
