As a follow-up to last year’s GGRA’s partnership event with Life for a Life to support bio-diversity in our area, we welcome volunteers to join Balsam Bashing sessions in and around the Calf Lane Memorial Forest near Saddleworth Cricket Ground and close to the canal and the River Tame. We did a great job last year and it is important now to keep on top of this invasive plant.

Tools and equipment plus health & safety insurance will be provided  by Life for a Life.

Greg Barratt (Tesco Community Champion) is hopeful that Tesco will be able to provide light lunch refreshments (sandwiches/soft drinks) and this will be confirmed in the next few days. .

Even if you can’t take part all day, please come along at times to suit yourself. Children are very welcome, though those under the age of fourteen must be accompanied by responsible adults.

Please let your family and friends to know about this event.

Dress code – Gloves and wellies.

Calf Lane is just off Manchester Road in Greenfield - OL5 9BP. Follow the access track to Saddleworth Cricket Club.

Hope to see you there.

Best wishes,

Mike Rooke (GGRA Treewatch Group)
