Greenfield Canal Project Day & Award Celebration - Saturday 24th June

Over the last 18 months or so the Greenfield canal volunteers have been working on replacing a stretch of fencing on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal between Uppermill and Greenfield. Aside from one final top rail which will be fitted on Saturday morning this is now finished and we've decided to hold a topping out ceremony.
We also have some other very exciting news. The Street Scene Greenfield Group have been honoured with a Queen's Award for Voluntary Service which we understand is the equivalent of a MBE.
As this award is the achievement of all the volunteers who have helped with the work on the canal and other projects around the village we want to celebrate our joint success with a glass of something bubbly. So whether you've helped dig holes, painted lock gates, picked up litter or just wished us well we would be delighted if you can join us.
We are meeting at 10am at Hall's Lock (L20W), Hall's Way, off Wellington Road, Greenfield.
After the celebrations we'll be going down to Well-i-Hole to carry on with the fencing repairs there and if you are able to stay and help that'd be great. As usual all equipment will be provided but do wear clothing and footwear suitable for the weather conditions on the day.
